The Golden Rule of Business Partner Match™

Every meaningful interaction should leave the Business Partner Match™ community smarter than before — through voluntary, privacy-respecting lessons that help future business owners make better-informed decisions.

Lessons are the asset. Identities are not. Deals that close teach us something. So do deals that fall apart, partnerships that never happen, buyers who change direction, sellers who decide to wait, and financing that doesn't come through. Over time, the community's own experiences — successes and non-successes alike — become the most trustworthy source of guidance for the next owner, seller, buyer, partner, or successor.

Interactions worth learning from

A debrief is offered after any meaningful interaction — not only closings. Always voluntary. Anonymized by default.

What the community learns over time

  • Which financing structures most often close deals in a given industry.
  • How long different kinds of businesses typically take to sell.
  • The most common reasons acquisitions stall — and how members overcame them.
  • Which ownership pathways (buy, partner, sweat equity, MBI, successor) succeed most often for first-time owners.
  • Which combinations of professionals correlate with smoother closings.

These insights come from verified outcomes — patterns members chose to share — not opinions or speculation. Every published insight shows sample size, sources, and confidence.

Guardrails

Privacy first

Identities stay private unless a participant chooses to attach their story to the Hall of Success. Aggregate insights only.

Voluntary always

Participation is never a condition of using the platform. No debrief, no penalty.

Educational, never prescriptive

Insights describe patterns ("many restaurant sales used…"), never prescriptions ("you should offer…"). Final decisions belong to the parties and their advisors.

Why this matters

Most marketplaces forget every transaction the moment it closes. Under the Golden Rule, each closed introduction adds to a living body of ownership knowledge that belongs to the community — and cannot be replicated by any competitor, because it is built from the members' own experiences.
